Thanks to the anniversary event celebrating the fifth anniversary of the online game, starter Pokémon can now be found throughout Pokémon GO. This makes it easy for players to collect all starter Pokémon and collect enough candies to evolve them. One of these Pokémon is Chimchar from the Shinno region.
By capturing Chimchar, the player can turn him into Monferno with 25 Chimchar candies. Monferno can be then evolved to Infernape’s, with 100 Chimchar candies. Infernape is a dual Pokémon with fire and fighting attributes. It has very weak moves against flying, ground, psychic, and water attributes. However, it can also resist damage from steel, grass, ice, dark, fire, and bug moves.
The main way to get Chimchar to spawn during the anniversary event is to use lures. They can be purchased directly from the Pokemon GO in-game store or obtained through various research missions. By using ordinary lures on any PokeStop, Chimchar will appear in front of players.
Although lures can help players find Chimchar, there are other starter Pokémon that can also attract lures, and they may also appear. These Pokémon are Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, Turtwig, Piplup, Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie.
In addition, there is no special lure to help find fire Pokémon, requiring players to rely on ordinary lure only. Fortunately, in this event, each lure will last for an hour, giving the player enough time to stand next to the PokeStop and catch whatever the lure attracts.
Another way to obtain Chimchar through this event is to complete event-specific field research tasks. This task can be obtained by spinning any PokeStop, but players may need to spin multiple PokeStops to find the specific task they need.
The only thing the player needs is “Make five Great Throws.” Completing it will reward players with encounter Turtwig, Chimchar or Piplup. You cannot choose which Pokémon you will encounter through this mission.
